When a phone is reported lost, stolen or unpaid, the carrier adds its IMEI to the GSMA Device Registry, the shared blacklist used by networks in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, Latin America and many other countries. A blacklisted phone cannot connect to these networks even with a new SIM card.

What the blacklist status means

Clean – the IMEI is not reported lost or stolen. The phone can be used on networks that check the GSMA blacklist.
Blacklisted – a carrier reported the phone lost, stolen or blocked. It will not work on networks that use the GSMA blacklist.
Blacklist details show the carrier, country and date of the report, so you can ask the seller about it.

Is the GSMA blacklist worldwide?

Can a blacklisted phone be used?
