Is my iPhone locked or unlocked?

A carrier-locked iPhone works only with SIM cards of one carrier. The iPhone SIM-lock check shows the lock status (Locked or Unlocked), the carrier, the country and the next activation policy – the policy the iPhone will get at its next activation. You need the IMEI and the serial number; dual-SIM iPhones (XR and newer) also need IMEI 2.

If the iPhone is locked, the report links to the cheapest unlock service for that carrier policy. If it is unlocked, it will work with any SIM card worldwide.

What the SIM-lock status means

Unlocked – the iPhone works with any carrier’s SIM card.
Locked – the iPhone works only with the carrier shown in the report. It can be unlocked by that carrier policy.
Blocked by Apple – the iPhone is blocked and cannot be activated with any SIM.
